My Story
My name is Kimberly Stewart. My passion for my nonprofit comes with love and compassion for people just like me. I remember being homeless, hungry lonely and tired. I remember wanting to get help, but I did not have any information on how to get the help I needed.
I slept in cars and at so called friends’ houses only to find myself back on the streets the next day. I used drugs and other things to suppress the pain of being raped, abused and other things that I dare mention.
I found a grasp of hope when I found a shelter and women who would help me get the help I needed. I thank God for the shelter and women who were willing to help me.
It took some time for me to get myself together. In the back of my mind, I said to myself I’m going to give back. I also, noticed that I am a giver. I love to put a smile on people’s faces. I love helping others. Even when I was homeless, I gave half of what I had to someone else. My passion is to be on the front line talking to the homeless giving information on how to get the help they so need. Giving pamphlets, food, coats (IP) Information on drug addiction. Anything I can do to help the community.
My hope is to save as many as I can. My child Place wasn’t something I came up with. I prayed about what I would call my nonprofit. It was put on my heart and in my spirit to call it My Child’s Place Inc. in 2021 because the inner child within is always crying out for help.
Sometimes we as adults have too much pride and because ware an adult figure, we have it all together, but because of our childhood traumas can’t seem to grasp the ability to make things work for us.
Now the inner child has child, and we sometimes fall short on how to raise a child, or we are children with children. I can go on and on talking about me and my experience as a mother at sixteen without having any parents to guide me. I say this, we made it through the homelessness, we made it through the ruff patches only because someone helped me.
Now I want to give back to the communities, the families the less fortunate families. I want to let them know that there is someone here to help, to listen to their pains. My Child’s Place, Inc. is here to help.
